Adaptation Approaches
Adaptation approaches
Explore climate adaptation across the UK through seven key themes – from climate risks to justice and equity – with the MACC Hub.
The MACC Hub is helping to build the knowledge, connections and action needed for a well-adapted UK. Our seven themes provide a way to explore the evidence, ideas and practical experience shaping climate adaptation across the UK. Together, they highlight key challenges, opportunities and approaches for building resilience and enabling transformational adaptation.
Climate adaptation requires action across communities, sectors, places and governance systems. The seven adaptation approaches bring together research, policy and practice around some of the key challenges and opportunities shaping adaptation in the UK today. They provide a framework for organising knowledge, sharing learning and connecting people working towards common goals.
These approaches also create opportunities for learning across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Through shared case studies, practical examples and lessons from real-world experience, the Hub enables researchers, policymakers, practitioners and communities to learn from one another, understand what works in different contexts, and build on existing successes.
Together, these approaches support a growing community of practice, connecting research, policy and practice to accelerate adaptation and strengthen resilience across the UK. By connecting evidence, experience and action, they help advance the shared ambition of a well-adapted UK.
Each page provides an overview of the approach, the importance of it, MACC Hub’s take on it and the key partners and resources for the topic area.
