MACC Research projects bring together researchers, businesses, industry partners and communities to develop long-term, practical solutions to extreme weather and other climate impacts across all four UK nations.

As part of the wider Maximising UK Adaptation to Climate Change (MACC) programme, co-funded by UKRI and Defra, six major research projects are generating the new, transdisciplinary knowledge the UK needs to adapt to a warming climate. These projects bring together researchers, businesses, industry partners and communities to develop long-term, practical solutions to extreme weather and other climate impacts across all four UK nations. Working in close collaboration with the MACC Hub, they ensure strong knowledge exchange between research and policy; helping to overcome current barriers in public awareness, policy, legislation and climate data, and supporting the ambitions of UKRI’s Building a Green Future and Building a Secure and Resilient World strategic themes.

Together, these projects explore adaptation challenges from food systems to finance, urban heat, nature-based solutions, and local resilience. Their insights will help shape future policy, investment, and action to strengthen climate resilience nationwide.
