About
The Food Foundation is a registered charity working in partnership with researchers, campaigners, community bodies, industry, government and citizens to galvanise the UK’s diverse agents of change. The Food Foundation was established to understand why the UK food system is failing to deliver the best outcomes for citizens and our planet and to drive change in food policy and business practice to ensure everyone can afford and access healthy and sustainable food.
We know one of the symptoms of a broken food system is that people are unable to access a healthy diet. Diet-related ill health is a major public health issue, impacting people with less resources at a much higher rate.
The food system currently bakes in these inequalities, leading to poorer health outcomes and lower life expectancies for people on lower incomes.

Mission – is changing food policy and business practice to ensure everyone, across the UK nations, can afford and access a healthy and sustainable diet. We are policy entrepreneurs and use surprising and inventive ideas to catalyse and deliver fundamental change in the food system by building and synthesising strong evidence, shaping powerful coalitions, harnessing citizens’ voices and driving progress with impactful communications. We continually identify new opportunities for action, and trial new levers for change.
