MACC Hub: Climate Risk Tools Workshop (Wales)
Date and Time
Date: Thursday 26th February 2026
Time: 12pm – 4pm
Location: Online via MS Teams
Workshop Summary
The workshop is co-hosted by Severn Estuary Partnership, Cardiff University, University of East Anglia and the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research. The workshop will provide stakeholders in Wales with practical guidance on how to access and apply climate risk data, with a focus on supporting evidence-based local adaptation strategies.
These workshops are part of a UK-wide series designed to support local and regional stakeholders in using open-access climate risk tools to inform place-based adaptation planning. They form part of the UKRI/Defra funded Maximising Adaptation to Climate Change (MACC) Hub three-year project.
Workshop Focus
- Provide a baseline introductory session on a range of climate tools by showcasing climate services including OpenCLIM risk reports, the Local Authority Climate Service (LACS), and the Local Climate Adaptation Tool (LCAT).
- Discuss the strengths and limitations of different tools.
- Explore how various data sources link to and support the use of these tools.
- Demonstrate how tools can complement one another, using Wales case studies to show how multiple tools can be used to assess different risks.
Audience
Priority will be given to organisations and individuals in Wales who may benefit from understanding climate risk tools to inform policy and practise. Private climate consultancies are not permitted to attend.
The workshop is limited to 50 spaces.
