Introduction

Join us on 28 April from 1–2pm to explore how the MACC Hub and OpenCLIM are making climate risk more accessible, and how new tools and visualisation platforms can support transformational approaches to adaptation.

Background

A key focus for the MACC Hub is how climate risk information can be made easier to access and use for adaptation action. While climate data is increasingly available, it is often complex and requires specialist knowledge to interpret.

This webinar will explore how decision support tools and dashboards can help bridge this gap; supporting not only greater awareness of climate impacts but also enabling organisations and communities to engage with evidence more confidently and use it to inform action.

By making data more accessible, interactive tools can support more than just understanding – they can help enable agency, allowing users to explore risks at different spatial scales, focus on local impacts and better advocate for change.

Agenda

The webinar will cover:

  • Introduction to the OpenCLIM project
  • Decision support tools and dashboards for climate risk analysis and adaptation planning
  • Live demonstration of the OpenCLIM/MACC Hub interactive visualisation tool
  • Q&A with the development team

Speakers

The session will be led by:

Dr Craig Robson, Lecturer in Data Centric Engineering, Newcastle University

Dr Ben Smith, Research Associate in Hydrology, Newcastle University
