Professor of Environmental and Climate Science
An environmental and climate scientist, Professor Jaime Toney is the Sustainable Futures Lead for Glasgow Changing Futures, directs the Centre for Sustainable Solutions at the University of Glasgow and is the Principal Investigator of GALLANT: Glasgow as a Living Lab Accelerating Novel Transformation, funded as part of the UK’s Natural Environment Research Council’s (NERC) strategic programme, and the co-lead for the Scotland spoke of the MACC (Maximising UK Adaptation for Climate Change) Hub. Prof. Toney's recent work focuses on systems approaches for sustainable solutions and puts co-production and partnership working at the core. She is passionate about enabling action and building capacity for change towards sustainable futures. A recent example includes the development of the Thriving Glasgow Portrait, which is a co-created, shared vision of Glasgow as a thriving city and provides a framework for keeping social and ecological priorities in consideration during decision-making processes. Toney is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce and has held expert roles, such as, Advisor to Scottish Government.
